1. Listing a Certificate for Sale
a. I have a gift certificate I'd like to sell, how can I add it to CertificateSwap.com? Listing a certificate for sale on our site is easy! Click the “Sell” tab at the top of our webpage and follow the steps to easily list a certificate for sale on our site.
b. Can I list an airline coupon, hotel voucher, or car rental discount? No, CertificateSwap.com does not allow users to sell coupons, discounts, or anything travel related (airlines, hotels, car rental companies).
c. Can I sell a partially used certificate? No, CertificateSwap.com does not allow its members to sell partially used paper certificates. If the certificate is a plastic giftcard and is transferable, then yes you may list your remaining balance however you must first contact the store to verify the exact amount available on the card and enter this amount as the certificate's “face-value” since that is the amount remaining on the card.
2. Fees Charged
a. How much does it cost for me to list a certificate for sale? Nothing! Listing a certificate on our site is absolutely free for an infinite period of time. You are assessed a 7.5% processing fee when the certificate sells. This amount is subtracted from the amount credited to your account after the transaction is complete. You will never have to spend a dime out of your pocket on our service unless a certificate is refunded to the buyer or there is another similar problem with an order.
3. Managing Your Inventory
a. How can I remove a certificate I listed for sale? You may visit the My Account page on our site (link at top right of our site) and click on “Items for Sale” and then remove the certificate from the list. There is no charge for this however this will remove the certificate from our site and should you wish to add it back, you must start completely over.
4. Filling an Order
a. How will I be notified when a certificate of mine sells? You will receive an email notification instantly when a buyer purchases a certificate from your inventory. You will be provided with the purchaser's address and asked to ship the certificate within 24 hours. If you, for some reason, cannot ship their order then you may log into your account and “cancel” their order. You are not required to confirm orders that you will be shipping.
6. Getting Paid
a. How am I paid after I sell a certificate? After you sell a certificate and the transaction is completed (i.e., we get positive feedback from the buyer or after 30 days has passed since the sale took place and the buyer has not made negative feedback), the net amount consisting of the purchase price, less a 7.5% processing charge, plus 75 cents for shipping/handling, is posted to your account. You will receive this amount in an account known as your “Cash Balance.” You may then spend this amount on any gift certificate listed for sale on our site or you can even use it to purchase a SwapBux certificate for a friend or relative. In addition, once the amount has been posted to your account, you may “cash out” this balance by requesting a check or requesting payment via PayPal. There is a $2.00 charge for requesting a check or payment via PayPal.
b. If I request a check, how long will it take? Checks are cut once per month and therefore after you request a check it can take up to 30 days for you to receive payment.
c. If I request payment via PayPal, how long will it take? With payment via PayPal, you will receive your cash balance, less a $2 handling fee, in less than 14 days.
d. After I sell a certificate, how long does it take for the amount to be credited to my Cash Balance? The net amount due to you is posted to your “cash balance” as soon as the buyer leaves you positive feedback or after 30 days, whichever comes first. We must verify that the buyer has received their certificate before applying their payment to you and therefore your cash balance will not reflect you recent sale until they leave you positive feedback or until 30 days has passed.
e. What is the difference between my cash balance and my SwapBux balance? Your cash balance reflects the amount of money you've received from selling certificates. This amount can be spent on our site, redeemed for a SwapBux certificate for a friend/relative, or you may request a check. Your SwapBux balance reflects any SwapBux certificates you have received from a friend or family member and thus this amount cannot be used to purchase another SwapBux certificate nor can you cash out this balance. Your SwapBux balance can only be used to purchase an actual gift certificate to a merchant that is available for sale on our site.
7. Spending Your Balance
a. How can I spend my SwapBux balance? You may use your SwapBux balance to purchase a gift certificate to any retailer on our site. You may not cash out this balance or use it to purchase a SwapBux certificate for another person.
b. How can I spend my “cash balance”? We encourage you to take advantage of your cash balance and the discounted gift certificates available on our site and thus use it to purchase a discounted gift certificate to the merchant of your choice. If you choose to cash out this balance, you may request a check or payment via PayPal, however both options carry a $2 processing charge.
c. Can I add more to my balance? No, we do not allow you to make direct deposits to your account however if you wish to purchase an item on our site and the price exceeds your balance, you may use a credit card as normal to offset the difference.
